Prout at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations,
Ananda Kanan, NY Sector, Summer 2005
The highlight of the Prout presence at the summer convention was a
presentation on June 29, 2005 by the versatile senior Proutist scholar
Bhaktaviirya from the University of Queensland, Australia. He explored
basic Proutist ideas in light of dominant trends of modern thought, such
as humanism and ecology. The attendance was at its best in the sense
that the main program hall was full and many had to be accommodated
outside the hall in tents. All seemed to be absorbed for the entire time
period as the topic “Another World is Possible” was presented in a very
lucid way. It was well received with thankful feedbacks from most of
them. Many took notes for their own reference and pracar work.
Immediately after the presentation a question-answer discussion was held
with a panel composed of Bhaktaviirya, Dayabati, Mayatiita, and Dada
Vimalananda ji, and moderated by Bro. Madhusudana. A wide range of
questions about Prout were asked, many about practical applications. The
questions led to animated discussions, once again, fully engaging those
present. Since most present found the session informative and valuable,
it may serve as a model for sessions at future seminars.
Meetings by Sectorial Prout Board members and other Proutists were held
throughout the retreat. It was decided to focus our outreach with issues
related to the Proutist concept of Peoples Economy, and to increase our
outreach to students and intellectuals on the university campuses.
