PROUT Activities in India, May 2005

A New Impetus in Samaj Movements in India
(Pran Pur, Katihar, Bihar, April 29th - May 1st)
Despite scarce resources many samajas in eastern India appeared geared up for a new dynamic phase. On the occasion Aungika Samaj organized a Vahini Training Camp for the youth and students of one of the poorest blocks neighboring the district HQ of Katihar District in Bihar state.

The agrarian population of Pran Pur block lives a life of abject poverty under wretched conditions due to a total lack of infrastructure and industrial development. District roads disappear only a few miles from the district HQ. Eight months of the year these villagers suffer from the devastating aftermath of recurring annual floods which inundate the entire area at the very outset of the monsoon months of June/July till February/March. People have to ferry around on small boats for all out door needs.

The training camp, first of its kind for this neglected population, attracted a good gathering of 300 local youthful, energetic and committed cadres. Experts trained them adequately in leadership skills of Prout Ideology suited to their Samaj movement. Girls Prout/Womens Prout had their own leadership training camp with 50 cadres in attendance.

Impressively dressed-up, trained Vahini marched through the district HQ pressing their demands on the closing day and stunned local authorities, politicians and media alike while sending wave of a new hope and inspiration into the psyche of the populace. Print media as well as regional television carried elaborate, unbiased interview and footage causing thrilling enthusiasm in the local elites for the agenda of economic democracy of Prout.

The word had made rounds attracting a huge gathering of over three thousand farmers, students, youths and women from far lung areas of the district on the closing day. The High School campus ground was full, brimming with activities.

A celebrated magician, sympathetic to Samaj movement, showed up at the very end and started showing unbelievable tricks instantly. He sent public into fits of laughter and amused frenzy when he completely altered a momentarily hand written, signed appreciation letter made by the local Member of Legislative Assembly into stating that he was announcing his resignation as an MLA before his voters for the sake of Samaj & Vahini Movements and was donating all his wealth and property to Aungika Samaj. Many people took the paper in own hands and read the new statement as it stayed in black and white until, perhaps, when it finally returned to the magician. The MLA almost fainted in front of the crowed.

According to Sarva Samaj Chairman Bhai ji, at least one dozen samajas in India are all set for launching movements beginning with cadre training programs as their first step. Shrii Sushil Ranjan of Aungika Samaj organized the event.

Patna Utilization Training Camp
(Patna, Bihar, May 15) - With an attendance of three hundred cadres, leaders and trainers, the Annual Utilization Training Camp of Proutist Universal in Delhi Sector was a dynamic four day experience at the Prout center in Patna. It was organized by Delhi Sector CS PU Ac. Krpananda ji a bit differently this year to include besides personality development activities, a lot of participatory activities, workshops, and a public symposium on the last day.

Apart from classes, especially designed for the new cadres, and leadership workshops for all, there were sessions of policy discussions on national and international issues. The attending 25 Samaj leaders (National and state levels) had their own three hour sessions on revisiting Samaj Movement Strategies.

The three hour long leader-cadre interactive on the last day with eight Samajas presenting their leaders and cadres was really very inspiring and productive. Total strength here was around 150.

The UTC was able to give constructive impact on the participating gathering which shared a solemn view that it was essential to educate India’s new generation intelligentsia in PROUT’s Economic Democracy, if her students and youths, frustrating from the neo-liberal federal policies, were to be kept from joining confused, destructive communist insurgency which has seen a marked increase in North, East and South Areas of the country, last year.

Ac. Priyatosananda Avt. Ac. Paramananda Avt. and Ac. Krpananda Avt. from Delhi sector shared lead roles in organizing and successfully conducting the events while SGPU Ac. Vandanananda Avt. and Samaj Organizing Secretary Ac. Siddhayogananda Avt. focused on the content of the programs.

Prominent among present Samaj Leaders included Dr. S.R. Pathik, a retired Scientist from Himachal, Shrii Umesh Joshi from Mumbai, Ac. Gupteshwar Ji from Patna, and Shrii Chandra Narayan ji from Purnea.

Public Symposium
(Patna, Bihar, May 15) - A powerful symposium on Prout was organized on the concluding day of the UTC. Some 600 people were in audience in the famous auditorium hall of Cetana Samiti, located at the heart of Patna, not far from the prison where Shrii Sarkar struggled for life defending the pre-eminence of Prout. Prominent and respectful personalities from the civil society of Patna, e.g. Guest of Honor, a respected Engineer Icon Dr. Anoop Kumar Sinha, Noted Environmentalist Engineer Dr. G.P. Lal, Sarva Samaj secretary, Rtd. Scientists Dr. S.R.Pathik from Himachal Pradesh and Prof. Dadan from Patna, and Physicist Prof. Bhaskar ji, took part and shared the podium with functionaries of Proutist Universal. The enlightened audience clapped to the inspiring and eloquent presentations of the speakers like Dr. S.R.Pathik and SG PU Ac. Vandanananda Avt. as they elaborated various aspects of the topic “Prout: The Panacea of the Present Socio-Economic Crises”. Expressing his views that there was no way other than re-structuring the economy and the industrial sectors, Ac.
