There is a Better World of Progress Beyond Capitalism
Katihar, Bihar
In Katihar, Bihar more than 200 intellectuals attended a 3-hour
discussion on "Prout's Vision for the Future of Angika". Ac.
Gunindrananda Avadhuta spoke at length about the defects of communism
and how badly global capitalism has crippled the local economy. Sri Guru
Prasad, the Secretary of Angika Samaj, explained why the socio-economic
zone was formed and how it can become economically self-reliant.
Acharya Vandanananda Avadhuta, the Secretary General of
Proutist Universal, asked why, when Angika is so rich in natural and
human resources, the people are so poor? All resources are now being
drained out of Angika; instead they should be properly managed by the
people themselves.
Angika Samaj working committees are active at different
levels in Katihar, Areria, Purnea and Bhagalpur Districts, and they are
contesting 11 Bihar State Assembly seats in the coming election.
Orissa
1. Land for a Proutist Universal office was acquired in Bhuwaneshwar.
Construction should finish by July .
2. A protest rally was organized in the front of State Assembly when it
was in session. Their banner read: "We Proutists should also be invited
in the planning of Orissa." The leading print media covered the story.
3. Ac. Shiddhayogananda was guest speaker at a Prout rally for economic
democracy in Balashore, Utkal that united more than 400 people.
4. Nearly 500 students have joined the United Proutist Student
Federation (UPSF).
5. A special meeting for leading economists is being organised on 14-15
March by Mr. G. Bhatta of Karnataka, Mr. S.R. Pathik of Himanchal, Mr.
Naheem Khan of Bilaspur and Mr. Loknath Pradhan of Orissa.
Two prominent social activists organized a meeting with Proutists in
Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa. Mr. Jianeshwar, chairman of the Sugar Cooperative,
and Mr. Bhima Rath, invited Ac. Rameshvarananda, Ac. Vandanananda and
Ac. Priyakrsnananda, under the chairmanship of Ac. Dhiishuddhananda.
They discussed Prout developmental planning at both the micro- and
macro-levels for Utkal and Kaushal. They resolved to:
1. Organise intellectual symposiums.
2. Enroll more UPSF members
3. Educate the people at local level about the development plan.
They have selected the Bolangir Block for micro-level activities.
Raipur
The Central Governing Body of Chattisgarh Samaj met twice in Raipur
under the guidance of Acarya Rteshvarananda.
Mumbai
A two-day workshop on Prout was organized in Mumbai on 18-19 January
with 50 participants. A special 3-day training course on Prout
Cooperatives took place in Lonewala, Maharashtra led by Ac. Parmananda
Avt., Ac. Gunindrananda Avt., Dr. S.R. Pathik and Mr. Joshi.
Tata Nagar
In Tata Nagar, a symposium on economic democracy took place on 18
December, 2004. Ac. Vimalananda spoke at length about decentralized
economy. Mr. Rao, a leading educator, was the Chief Guest.
Mau, Gorakhpur
Two Prout meetings for youth were organized in Mau and Gorakhpur 96 more
than 300 students participated.
Pune
More than 500 Proutists of Syadri Samaj and Vidharva Samaj joined a
rally on economic democracy in Pune on 26 January. The Commissioner of
Pune was the Chief Guest. A cultural drama highlighting Prout was staged.
Mr. Lalit Parimu and the Bhukti Pradhans of Mumbai were the main
organisers. They have decided to hold such rallies every year, in Mumbai
on 15 August (Independence Day) and in Pune on 26 January (Republic Day).
Delhi
A full-day workshop called "Chetna" ("Awakening") was organized in Delhi
on 13 Feb in Prout Bhawan. The theme of the morning session was: "There
is a Better World of Progress Beyond Capitalism". The afternoon session
focused on "Prout, a Collective Sustaining Force is the Need of the Hour".
Ac. Vandanananda made a colorful and meaningful presentation. In the
evening the group discussed how to implement Prout, which included
concrete plans to organize events on a regular basis.
